1.Merdø Island - Shallow, sandy beaches on the island just outside Arendal city- perfect for families and picnics. Grab a short ferry ride from the town centre, pick up is near Madam Reiersen resturant. Pack a cooler or hit up Merdø kro for pizza, beer and wine
2. Stølsviga (Hisøya)- Family-friendly beach area with two sandy bays, playground, toilets. Short drive from town.
3. Hove and Spornes beach - In Raet National park (Tromøy) - Spacious sandy shores and natural bathing spots in scenic coastal area with facilities nearby
Do a scenic walk trough the town.
You can take the "Glassheisen" elevator for the highest viewpoint or hit up Norway's most modern museum & archive building ; Kuben. Arendal is rich in history!
There is also a Mall in the town for some shopping, and many cute stores in the city centre
Go for a swim in Norway's first floating outdoor pool located right by Tyholmen Hotel
The harbour will have several bars and restaurants. Head to Sportsbaren, Castelle, Haraldspub. Anywhere on the Langbrygga for a cold beer and the longest sunshine hours.

Grab a fish cake in your hand at Fiskebrygga or Fiskemottaket or visit Strand cafê for a "munke", a scandinavian treat that Arendal is known for.
Ferry to Kolbjørnsvik island for a walk and an ice cream

Nidelv camping has two saunas for 12 and 14 people. It´s also a great spot for lunch/dinner, 10 min drive from Arendal.
A fun activity for the whole family is Kristiansand Zoo, a 40 min drive from Arendal. An awesome combined zoo and amusement park.
